Omnyx Integration leverages existing investments in AP-LIS by seamlessly supplying an individual’s case information digitally. This enables the Omnyx Integrated Digital Pathology (IDP) solution to drive efficiency by eliminating redundant data entry, automating the process of matching slides to cases and improving communication of case status to the research pathologists.

Integration Key Features:
  • HL7 and Web Services interface support
  • Immediate updates of individual, case and histology data
  • Detailed histology information for parts, blocks, stains and slides
  • Case details including grossing notes
  • Easy transfer of region of interest snapshots for use in reports

HL7 Integration

The Omnyx Workflow Server is able to process HL7 interfaces that are commonly available from APLIS vendors. These interfaces reduce redundant data entry by receiving individual and case identifiers from an APLIS outbound orders feed.  Case reports can also be recorded for future use through a results feed from the APLIS.

Web Services Integration

Omnyx is working with AP-LIS vendors to implement Web Services integration to drive digital efficiency. Two services support the seamless integration across the Omnyx IDP and AP-LIS: Publish, whereby data can be pushed from the AP-LIS to the Omnyx IDP and Query, in which data can be queried from the AP-LIS by the Omnyx IDP.

Through the Omnyx Publish service, the Omnyx  Workflow Server receives detailed data about the individual, case and slides including barcode and tracking status. Cases are available on the Omnyx Pathologist Workstation and Histology Workstation immediately after they are accessioned in the AP-LIS. This provides both histology sites and pathologists with a full and continuously updated view of the research cases. The Publish service also provides timely updates to histology data for the display of pending slides and automatic organization of slides. The flexible web services structure allows data not normally available in an HL7 format to be transferred during key events.

The Omnyx Query service enables the Omnyx Workflow Server to request from the AP-LIS detailed data elements about the current case such as grossing notes as well as relevant history from prior cases and other procedures without redundant storage of data. Cases are presented in the Pathologist Workstation with immediate access to this information. This provides pathologists with contextual information to support their case review from within a single research application.
